Page 1 - African Dance
New York City is one of America's centers of African life, so it's no surprise that there are specialist African dancers here who are often hired to dance for parties and African bands. One of the most well known is MAMBO, from Cameroon. Meet Mambo — and see her in the Soukous Stars videos also posted here at YouTube. Correct pronunciation is "mom-BO" — with the accent on the "bo"

African Dance at the SERF, the dancers are from UW-Madison. This is a fitness class, we meet twice a week! Tuesdays at 7:30pm and Thursdays at 6:15pm....now I know what you're saying...this looks like a class for advanced dancers...it's not. It's for everyone, open to all levels. The people in the class are just motivated and determined to learn the moves...and that's why they are so GREAT!

Try some African Dance-inspired moves to Shakira's Waka Waka! Make sure you turn up the volume on this one! In the beginning I explain the moves, and then we do the choreography. Pardon my nervousness on camera when I talk! I'm still not used to working with a camera crew watching me -- usually everyone else in the studio is dancing along with me!
